ETS has applied its Balanced Line technology to the iProAudio Balun™ mating a professional- grade XLR-style connector with a 3.5mm TRRS plug that plugs into the smartphone or iPad's audio input jack, allowing software on the smartphone to record professional quality audio.
The iProAudio Baluns (PA921, PA922) are compatible with phones using the CTIA/AHJ* standard wiring.
By plugging the iProAudio Baluns (PA921 or PA922) into the digital audio "record" function of the smartphone, one can use a high-end professional XLR-style microphone for recording. The PA921 provides a "record only" feature; while the PA922 has a 6 inch pigtail which provides a source where one can hear what has been recorded without removing the balun.
The iProAudio Balun converts the unbalanced 3.5mm plug to a true balanced low-impedance XLR input that allows the addition of much longer cables, more than 500 feet (150m) on common microphone cable. Using a single channel InstaSnake™ and unshielded Cat5e cable, signals can be sent up to 1,000 feet. (300 m) While 'on the go', you can record your favorite venue or documentary with ease and clarity.
