IPC to Hold IPC-9592 Power Conversion Conference
Press release date: August 1, 2008
First-Ever Power Conversion Standard Coming Soon
BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA, August 1, 2008 - The long-awaited power conversion standard, IPC-9592, Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries, is in its final stage of production. In preparation for the release, IPC has planned a unique conference on November 6, at the Wyndham Hotel DFW, Irving, Texas, to discuss the details of the IPC-9592 specification and outline the process and input that went into developing this first-ever power conversion standard.
More than 90 pages are dedicated to this specification that will have a dramatic and positive impact on the entire power conversion supply chain. The IPC-9592 Conference agenda will cover the complete range of power conversion product attributes, including product specifications and document requirements; design for reliability; design and qualification testing; and manufacturing conformance testing.
Best of all, conference sessions will be presented by the same volunteer standards development committee members who contributed to the document's individual sections. These volunteer members - representing Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco Systems, Dell Inc., Emerson Network Power, Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM, Lineage Power and Murata Power Solutions - will describe not only the items, requirements and issues confronted and resolved in the development of the standard, but also the background and logic used to craft each chapter.
"The 9592 standard is a great illustration of how users and suppliers can come together and work collaboratively to help the power conversion industry," said Tom Newton, IPC director of technical programs. "The IPC-9592 conference will go a long way in explaining the requirements and benefits of the document and answering the inevitable questions that can occur with the release of a new standard."
