Introducing One-of-a-Kind Magnetic and Rotary Jet Mixers

Alfa Laval's new patented liquid mixing technology, ideal for Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries, saves product, reduces mixing time and even cuts investment costs.

Magnetic mixing
Designed to advance the liquid mixing process, the patented design has a strong magnetic coupling between the impeller and the driving magnets which causes the impeller to levitate or float - with no direct contact with axial bearing surfaces. This allows for continued mixing until a tank is empty, and achieves a validated mix to a much lower tank level compared to other mixing products. As a result, the magnetic mixer continues to mix as the last drops drain from each tank - providing higher yield which saves the customer product, time and ultimately operating costs.

Without the limits of friction and aided by an impeller with eight wings, the mixer allows for run rates in excess of 750 RPMs for higher speed mixing - ideal for when heavy mixing and vortex is needed. The mixer is just as efficient at speeds as low as 5 RPMs - for effective yet gentle agitation of the most sensitive products.

Most mixers need to shut down during each CIP cycle. This seal-free magnetic mixer doesn't need to shut down after each batch as CIP and SIP cycles can begin immediately - again, without stopping the mixer. Due to the levitated impeller, it isn't necessary to submerge the mixer with CIP solution since cleaning solution flows freely through all surfaces. This greatly reduces resources, cleaning time and risk of product contamination. The mixer has 3.1 traceability with USP Class VI compliant mixing components.

Rotary jet mixing
Patented Iso-Mix technology mixes liquid, gas or powder all in the same tank and has proven to cut investment costs up to 50%. Equipped with either two or four rotating nozzles, liquid is circulated via an external loop and propelled through the jets while the mixer rotates both horizontally and vertically - resulting in thorough mixing with minimal time and energy consumption. The vertical and horizontal mixing pattern also provides a more rapid and complete mix throughout the tank's internal surface - mixing in areas where traditional tank baffles would miss.

Iso-Mix rotary jet mixers are already known as a proven solution, as breweries have been using Iso-Mix to shorten fermentation time by 30%. And in soft drink production, the use of rotary jet mixers has been shown to reduce investment costs by more than 50%.

After mixing, the same Iso-Mix rotary jet mixer can serve as a rotary jet tank cleaning device - a versatile 2-in-1 device which reduces cost of ownership further.

Offering this new mixing technology strengthens Alfa Laval's goal of being the industry's first choice by offering the most complete line of tank equipment - from these new patented mixing technologies, to leading Toftejorg tank cleaning equipment, and proven 3A compliant tank pumps and valves.
