Industrial Scientific Sponsors Energy Supply Presentation
PITTSBURGH, PA, USA - 08 Feb 2007 - Industrial Scientific Corporation a global leader in gas detection and monitoring instruments, systems and related services, sponsored a presentation by Shell Oil President John D. Hofmeister, "How the U.S. can Ensure Energy Supply for the Future."
U.S. energy security is based on a delicate balance between energy production and consumption with increased supply. This balance was addressed by Mr. Hofmeister with information regarding the crucial role that the U.S. energy industry is playing to ensure that the energy supply for the future is stable.
Mr. Hofmeister believes that a full array of energy sources will ensure a healthy energy supply for our future. Conventional oil and gas as well as unconventional oil and gas requiring innovative technology were among the sources mentioned. With this in mind, he emphasized that the energy industry must apply advanced technology in order to conduct business in socially, economically and environmentally responsible ways. At the individual level, Mr. Hofmeister also stated that additional measures should be taken to educate the population so that greater focus can be placed on energy efficiency and conservation.
John Hofmeister was named President of Houston-based Shell Oil Company in March 2005. He has held key positions in major companies such as General Electric, Nortel and Allied Signal for more than 30 years. He is a member of the Department of Energy's new Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee. Mr. Hofmeister also serves on the boards of American Petroleum Institute, United States Energy Association, National Association of Manufacturers, National Urban League, Foreign Policy Association, and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. He holds a master's degree in political science from Kansas State University.
