In Material Handling, Customer Service Puts Money In Your Pocket

Great customer service aids material handling distributors when making sales.

Dewitt, NY: The MHEDA Journal Online (http://www.TheMhedaJournal.org), is the leading online magazine for the forklift, conveyor, storage & handling, and general material handling equipment industries. The 2nd Quarter issue of the magazine is online now and features articles focusing on customer service as the material handling industry gears up for the MHEDA Convention, April 30-May 4, 2011, in Phoenix, Arizona. This year's Convention theme is "The Customer Convention," and the 2nd Quarter issue took that theme to heart.

As part of the magazine's customer-centric theme, this issue features an article that discusses great customer service practices with MHEDA distributors. The article, titled "Customer Service Puts Money In Your Pocket," asks 12 material handling distributors what customer service truly means and how it can be done most effectively.

One example of great customer service is offered by David Rizzo, president of A.J. Jersey (South Plainfield, NJ). "Don't sit around and wait for your customers to complain," Rizzo says. "Stop by, see what their applications are and try to make recommendations. Get your salespeople and customer service reps to stop in and see existing customers as much as possible. You can fix small problems before they become big problems." That proactive approach to customer service is echoed by the other MHEDA dealers.
