Press release date: December 15, 2011

igus® Inc. will be exhibiting at booth 234 during the forthcoming SLAS 2012 conference and exhibition. The event will be located at the San Diego Convention Center in California and run from February 4-8, 2012. The exhibition hall will be open February 6 and 7.

At the exhibition, igus will showcase its latest innovations for laboratory technologies and automation, including its drylin® HTSP-FF leadscrew table with a new "quick-release" nut and iglide® PRT slewing ring bearings that slide instead of roll.

The quick-release nut is a uniquely designed system that makes format adjustments faster and easier by reducing the number of revolutions required to position the carriage on a leadscrew assembly with a small pitch. When equipped with the quick-release nut, a drylin leadscrew table can be adjusted by simply pushing a button, which releases the linear slide from the thread. Then the carriage can be manually pushed into place and locked in position. Adjustments requiring increased precision can be made using the mechanism's hand wheel. drylin leadscrew tables are ideal for facilitating linear motion for pick-and-place applications in medical and laboratory equipment.

Also on display will be iglide PRT: a unique slewing ring bearing that uses two self-lubricating, low-friction plastic sliding elements in place of ball bearings. The low-noise modules are extremely wear resistant and easy to install. The slewing rings are also robust and have a very high load capacity. They are ideal for facilitating rotary movement in cleanroom applications, assembly lines, production facilities and robots.

Other products on show will include energy chain® cable carriers, which are designed to house and protect cables in automated applications, including cleanroom and laboratory environments. dryLin N is a low-profile linear guide system, which is ideal for small installation spaces, while dryLin R linear bearings are a drop-in replacement for standard metal ball bearings.

All of igus' products are self-lubricating and run without the need for messy oils or grease. This is an important feature for medical laboratories and keeps the environment free of any contaminants.
