HOUSTEX 2015 Manufacturing Trade Show Coming to Houston Feb. 24-26

ABOUT: HOUSTEX 2015, produced by SME, has grown to become one of the largest Southwest manufacturing trade shows for the oil and gas, additive manufacturing, motorized vehicles, and aerospace and defense industries. Thousands of industry professionals will interact with more than 300 exhibiting companies on the show floor to network and seek out services designed to help their companies meet demands for better quality, tighter tolerances and lower costs of their businesses products and systems. HOUSTEX 2015 will feature more than 90 new product introductions.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Industry experts will present technical sessions, covering such topics as additive manufacturing, outlook for energy for the oil and gas industry, and cybersecurity for critical infrastructure systems.
HOUSTEX’s special events include a keynote presentation on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure systems in the oil and gas industry and industrial control systems.
A student summit for Houston-area high schools that will prepare the workforce of the future, as well as give students a chance to compete in a 3D printed virtual wind turbine design challenge.
Additive manufacturing presentations focused on emerging technologies geared toward the oil and gas industry.
A special presentation highlighting outlook for energy for global demand and how it will be met with various energy sources.

Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, 9a.m.–1p.m.
Student Summit – This summit, sponsored by the SME Education Foundation, will introduce educators and students to exciting new innovations in manufacturing technologies. The summit’s purpose is to allow Houston-area high schools students to interact with manufacturing professionals to help demonstrate how a STEM education can be put into real-world applications within the wide variety of manufacturing careers. The summit will wrap-up with a virtual wind turbine design challenge where students will digitally design a wind turbine blade and watch as it is 3D printed. The school that designs the turbine with the fastest RPM’s wins a test stand for their school valued at over $600.
