Hormel Foods Announces Promotion


AUSTIN, Minn. (Nov. 19, 2007) Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) announced the promotion of Robert A. Tegt to group vice president of the specialty foods group effective immediately.

In this position, Tegt oversees the strategic direction of Diamond Crystal Brands, Century Foods International and Hormel Foods specialty products. The specialty foods group includes products such as restaurant packets, nutritional food products and supplements, and contract manufacturing.

Bob has exhibited great leadership with the specialty foods group, said Jeffrey M. Ettinger, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Hormel Foods. Under his direction, the specialty foods group has become a significant contributor to our bottom line over the last two years.

A Hormel Foods employee for 34 years, Tegt joined the company as a sales trainee in 1973. He served in a number of sales positions and was named product manager in the meat products division in 1979. Six years later, he became group product manager for the meat products group and was named vice president of marketing for Jennie-O Foods in 1988. In 2001, he was promoted to senior vice president of the foodservice business for Jennie-O Turkey Store. He advanced to vice president of the specialty foods group in January 2006.
