Honeywell Sees Attendance Rise at 2010 EMEA Users Group Conference

Customers Share Insights and Best Practices for Using Honeywell Technology to Enhance Safety, Reliability, Efficiency and Sustainability

BARCELONA, Spain, Nov. 4, 2010 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) recorded a 40% rise in attendance over the previous year at its 2010 EMEA Users Group Conference, which was held October 26-28 at the Princesa Sofia Hotel with the theme "Dynamic Solutions. Endless Possibilities." In total, more than 800 attendees from 30 countries were present, showing a sharp rise in customer participants over last year from all the regions.

This year's agenda featured over 37 user presentations, industry-specific breakout sessions and panel discussions. Throughout the event, customers such as Shell, Total Petrochemicals, FLEX LNG, Grupa Lotos, ENI Livorno, Exxon Mobil and Borregaard shared insights and best practices from their specific industries, including hydrocarbon processing; metals, mining and minerals; power generation; chemicals; oil and gas and life sciences.

Additionally, attendees visited the extensive demonstration and exhibit areas for a closer look at Honeywell's newest technologies as well as offerings from Matrikon around MES and cyber security. Topical issues debated included: the truth about industrial wireless technology; virtualization; process safety; industrial cyber-security and energy and emissions solutions. A successful wireless roundtable featuring representatives from the WCI, Yokogawa and an end user from QAFCO talked about what the wireless plant of the future would look like.

"Our customers look to us to provide solutions that make their operations safer, more reliable, efficient and sustainable," said Edwin van den Maagdenberg, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Process Solutions EMEA. "We, in turn, must listen to our customers because their voices greatly influence the direction of our technology. The Users' Group experience lets them do that, with tremendous value resulting for both Honeywell and its customers, and that's one of the reasons our customers keep coming back to it."

Dr. Christian Kramer, Management Technical Service Electro, Instrumentation and Process Control, Sasol Solvents first attended the Users' Group in 1999 and has returned several times since. "I found this year's event particularly interesting with many new products and ideas on offer," said Dr. Kramer. "Not only do I get to learn about Honeywell's expanding portfolio but it's also a great opportunity to network with my peers from other companies and take ideas back with me that will help improve my day-to-day business. I always enjoy this event and go back to work with lots of new ideas."

Honeywell's User Group Conference is developed by and for Honeywell process automation customers and features educational presentations on process industry innovations and advancements. Each year, the agenda is developed by the Users' Group Steering Committee, which is made up of 12 customers from companies such as Equate, Shell, Marathon Oil, SABIC UK and LyondellBasell.
