Hydraulic Institute Announces Webinars for Positive Displacement Pump Professionals



Parsippany, NJ, March 5, 2009 - Hydraulic Institute (HI), the pump industry's knowledge leader and foremost resource for pump education, has announced a new Webinar Series based on their world-class e-Learning course titled "Positive Displacement Pumps: Fundamentals, Design and Applications".

Hydraulic Institute is now offering straight talk, informative live presentations by subject matter experts delivered right to a pump professional's desktop - home or office. Participants will be led by and have access to industry-leading experts in a non-commercial educational forum.

The webinars are divided into five sessions, representing the five modules in the newly-released positive displacement e-Learning course.

Content is based on ANSI/HI Pump Standards, with significant contributions from experts at HI member companies that sponsored and led the development of the course.

All HI webinar participants earn HI professional development hours. PDHs are accepted by most certification and licensing entities.

Registration for the HI webinars is per connection, and registrants may have as many people in the room as they would like to participate in the session.

March 31

1:30-3:30 pm ET

Why PD Pumps?

In this session, Dave McKinstry, Vice President of Business Development & Special Projects for Colfax Corporation introduces participants to technology concepts, applications and special issues to consider in integrating positive displacement pumps.

April 14

1:30-3:30 pm ET

Positive Displacement Pump Hydraulics

This session will be led by Fred Buse, former Senior Consulting Engineer for Flowserve Pump Division, and will provide an overview of elements important to positive displacement pump selection. An understanding of these hydraulic fundamentals is essential to understanding the four other modules in this series.

April 28

1:30-3:30 pm ET

Rotary Pumps

Fred Buse will also lead this session and will be introducing the fundamentals, design and application of positive displacement rotary pumps.

May 14

1:30-3:30 pm ET

Reciprocating Pumps

Positive displacement pumps are divided into two broad classifications, rotary pumps and reciprocating pumps. This training session, led by Mike Bixler, Global Technical Development Manager for CLYDEUNION, will focus on reciprocating pumps, which are divided into two sub classifications: piston or plunger pumps and diaphragm pumps.

May 28

Controlled Volume Metering Pumps

In this session, Jim Holts, Senior Product Manager for Grundfos Pumps Corporation, will introduce the fundamentals, design and application of positive displacement controlled volume metering pumps.

Pricing for each PD Pump webinar course is $119 per connection. Additionally, registrants will be given access to HI's PD Pump on-line course for 60 days.
