Hydraulic Institute Offers Webinar on Effective Pump Intake Design

Parsippany, NJ  –The Hydraulic Institute will be offering a 4 part webinar series on Effective Pump Intake Design and Troubleshooting Problem Intakes. The first session will be launching Thursday March 3rd.

This webinar series is based off of the Hydraulic Institute’s Intake Design for Rotodynamic Pumps (ANSI/HI 9.8-2012) and will visually aid the standard’s overview of design objectives, required inlet bell design diameter, submergence requirements, using the standard for proper instructions on intake structures for clear liquids and solids-handling pumps, highlights of key technologies used when designing the pump intake including physical and computation fluid dynamics (CFD). Key learning objectives to take away from this webinar series are to identify issues and considerations when designing a pump intake, highlight tools that are available to the engineer, and how to use the standard effectively and comply with the industry regulations. Design engineers, research laboratory specialists, engineering contractors, consulting engineers, trainers, maintenance staff, and end user operators will benefit from the information provided in this webinar series.

The series will cover the following topics:

Session 1: Intake Background, History, and Design Objectives

Date and Time: March 3, 2016 - 1:00-2:00pm ET

Instructor(s): Andy Johansson, Director of Hydraulic Modeling, Alden Research Laboratory, Inc. and Kara Hurtig, Water Resources Engineer, Northwest Hydraulic Consultants, Inc.
