Henkel's Loctite® Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA) Improve Performance and Design Flexibility for Next-Generation Automotive Displays

Henkel offering LOCA demonstrations to automakers and suppliers through June 30

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Automakers and suppliers looking to improve durability, reduce thickness and enhance readability of their next-generation automotive displays can now take advantage of Henkel's Loctite® Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA). Henkel is offering demonstrations at its North American automotive headquarters in Madison Heights, Mich. through June 30th.

"We invite automotive OEMs and suppliers to visit us at our Madison Heights, Michigan facility, so they can conduct part validation using glass-to-glass liquid bonding," said Scott Pergande, director, Henkel's automotive group, North America and Latin America North. "This is a complimentary value-added service we are offering to demonstrate the benefits of Henkel's Loctite® LOCA products."

Automotive displays, such as navigation and entertainment systems, are assembled with multiple components in layers which typically include the display module, bonding material, touch panel sensor, cover lens bonding and cover lens. In the next generation of automotive displays, a highly integrated and sophisticated touch-interface design is increasingly important especially when it comes to vehicle safety, user comfort and high clarity. Henkel has developed the Loctite® LOCA products to eliminate reflection loss and/or glare, caused by air gaps between touch panel layers in traditional bonding methods. Loctite® LOCA products enable displays to be clearer and more readable for the end consumer.

Additional advantages of Henkel's Loctite® LOCA products include:

--  Increased contrast ratio by 400 percent in sunlight by matching the

reflective index (1.5) to glass and Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

--  Excellent adhesion to glass, PMMA and Polycarbonate substrates

--  Outstanding durability in high temperature and high humidity

        environments

--  Enabling thinner designs that reduce power consumption - extending the

        product and battery life

--  Seamless creation via an automated process with UV and viable cure

options enabling design flexibility and reworkability
