Henkel Expands India Operations; Names New Global Director of Business Development for the Region

Though already well-established with offices and sales support in India, the electronics group of Henkel today announced plans to broaden its scope in the country that is clearly emerging as a major locale for electronics manufacturing. With several top customers setting up production centers in the region, Henkel's Indian investment plan reaffirms the company's ongoing promise to provide support to its customer base with unrivalled local support and access to the company's immense global resources.

Central to Henkel's long-term India strategy is the appointment of Bhavesh Muni to the role of Global Director of Business Development for India. An 18-year veteran of the electronics industry, Muni has spent the last 4 years of his career with Henkel fulfilling various sales and product management roles for the materials leader. In addition to his vast knowledge of electronics manufacturing and materials, Muni brings a unique understanding of Indian culture to his new position. A native of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India, Muni received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College in Srinagar and, having been raised in the country, embraces the nuances of the Indian language and business climate.

"With months of strategic planning behind this initiative, I am delighted to move forward with our development roadmap and spearhead Henkel's growth in the dynamic Indian electronics market," states Muni. "Indian-based customers are already incorporating Henkel products in their production processes and, as their business grows, we will be entrenched with even more local support to enable their global competitiveness."

Henkel's development plans for India include the expansion of the local sales force through direct sales and distribution channels, growth of the technical applications staff, establishment of product manufacturing and the refinement of the company's logistics operations to ensure even easier 24/7 access to Henkel's leading materials products.

"India has been on our radar screen for quite some time," comments Patrick Trippel, president of the electronics group of Henkel. "With an office and support team already in place in Bangalore, we are now taking our regional commitment to the next level with the expansion of the sales and application staffs and the appointment of Bhavesh Muni to the newly-created business development role. Given the technical resources and facility investments we are pledging to our India development program, I expect that in a very short time Henkel's advanced electronic materials will become the de-facto standard for Indian electronics manufacturing."

In addition to his undergraduate degree, Muni also holds an MS in Polymer Science from the University of Detroit in Michigan. While overseeing Henkel's development efforts in India, Muni will continue to provide counsel and direction in his current capacity as Semiconductor Business Development Manager and divide his time between the company's headquarters in Irvine, California and Henkel's offices in India.
