Henkel Develops Advanced SupraCOOL(TM) Technology

Bridgewater, NJ - Henkel announces new Technomelt® SupraCOOL adhesive, an advanced technology combining the proven benefits of Technomelt Supra(TM) and Technomelt COOL(TM) adhesives.

"Technomelt adhesives have earned a reputation for quality, reliability and sustainability," said Jim Sipe, Business Director, Consumer Packaging, Henkel Adhesive Technologies, Henkel North America. "Technomelt Supra is known for an excellent operating window and robust bond strength, with even higher thermal stability and a greater adhesion range than alternatives. Packagers benefit from increased mileage, clean production, high-quality bonds and reduced maintenance. Technomelt COOL has been the industry standard in low temperature technology with distinct advantages as well. It operates 100o F lower than traditional packaging hot melts, which enables a 50% reduction of energy consumption. Like Technomelt Supra, Technomelt COOL reduces adhesive consumption by up to 30%, which cuts consumption of oil and water used in manufacture and adhesive use. Packagers also appreciate the improved safety, non-charring and extended equipment life enabled by Technomelt COOL.

The new Technomelt SupraCOOL adhesive provides the "best of both" technologies," according to Sipe. "It delivers even higher bond strength and wider application range than traditional low temperature technologies while reducing energy consumption, increasing the safety of the end of line operation, and creating an opportunity to improve mileage over either technology," he said.

Specific features of Technomelt SupraCOOL include:

o Lower application temperature of 250-275°F, for reduced energy consumption, less equipment wear, and increased worker safety.
o Lower application weights - at least 20% less than with conventional hot melts.
o Excellent heat stability, which eliminates gel and char, reduces maintenance and down time, and promotes uninterrupted production.

According to Sipe, due to a proprietary raw material position for Henkel, the patented SupraCOOL offers an excellent balance of heat resistance and cold adhesion, as well as excellent adhesion to difficult case and carton stock.

Henkel's Technomelt adhesives are used in many markets, including paper converting, tissue and towel, graphic arts, end-transdermal and self-adhesive tapes, labels and graphics. For additional information call 866-266-5565 or visit www.henkelna.com/consumerpackaging.
