Henkel Announces Loctite® Sponsorship of F5000 Vintage Racing

Rocky Hill, Conn. -- June 9, 2011... Henkel Corporation has announced that Loctite® brand adhesives and sealants will be a marquee sponsor of the 2011 Formula 5000 U.S. Revival Race Series. Formula 5000 is one of the premier open-wheel racing groups in historic/vintage racing, and ranks among the fastest growing participant sports in North America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

From 1968 to 1982, Formula 5000 or F5000 races ran in various countries around the world. Extremely popular in the United States in the early 1970s, F5000 featured drivers such as David Hobbs, Sam Posey, Eppie Wietzes, Mario Andretti, Jody Scheckter and Brian Redman. The 5000 designation relates to the maximum engine capacity of 5.0 liters allowed for participating open-wheel-style racing cars. F5000 manufacturers included McLaren, Eagle, March, Lola, Lotus and Chevron.

The 2011 Formula 5000 Revival Race Series will feature a five-race program that takes place on some of the best racetracks in the United States and Canada. The 2011 series will premiere at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York, and travel across the continent to tracks in California. The schedule includes the following events:

June 9-12: Watkins Glen International, Watkins Glen, New York July 7-10: Circuit Mont-Treblant, Quebec, Canada July 14-17: Road America, Sheboygan, Wisconsin September 23-25: Coronado Island Speed Festival, Coronado, California September 30-October 2: Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, California

"It's a natural fit for Loctite® to sponsor this vintage racing event," explains Mike Shannahan, Henkel's director of industrial marketing for North America. "Virtually every car in the competition has relied upon Loctite® products to enhance performance over the 40 or so years since they were built. Also, most of the people who watch these races either use or could use Loctite® technology in their daily lives."
