Harald Hammer Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Marketing Company


Borouge, the provider of innovative plastics solutions in the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa, today announced the appointment of Harald Hammer as Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Pte Ltd, its Singapore-headquartered marketing company.

Mr Hammer replaces Hubert Puchner, who after five years of leading Borouge through a period of strong growth, will take up the post of Executive Vice President of AgroLinz Melamine International (AMI) in Linz, Austria, managing the company's global melamine business. He will remain as a member of the Borouge Board.

In his first engagement as Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hammer will speak at Borouge's press conference at Arabplast, the Middle East's foremost plastics and rubber trade event which takes place at the between 13-16 January 2007 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Mr Hammer has extensive experience in the global plastics industry and is currently Vice President of the film and fibre business unit at Borealis, Borouge's joint venture co-owner, a position he has occupied since April 2002. He joined Borealis in 1998 from PCD of Austria as General Sales Manager for polypropylene when PCD was integrated into Borealis.

Mr Hammer, 41, holds a degree in economics from the University of Linz, Austria and has an MBA from the University of Toronto, Canada.

The Borouge and Borealis presence at Arabplast will serve as a focal point, bringing customers and other stakeholders together. It will also feature key application areas for products in infrastructure, such as water, gas and industrial pipe systems; power and communication cables; advanced packaging; and automotive components. Appropriately, the theme of the stand will reflect the companies' vision of 'Shaping the Future with Plastics'.
