Hancor Engineering Award Recipient Recognized By ASABE

Findlay, Ohio - November 20, 2007: An outstanding candidate has been selected to receive the 2007 Hancor Soil and Water Engineering Award. Patrick G. Hunt received this distinguished award for his contributions to the science and implementation of innovative new systems for animal waste treatment to improve water quality at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) annual meeting.

Hunt, a 9-year ASABE member, is a research leader with the USDA-ARS Coastal Plains Soil, Water, and Plant Research Center and has pioneered technologies for animal wastewater treatment lagoons and the development of improved water quality on a watershed basis via riparian buffers and wetlands. By development of the unifying theory and design criteria for overland flow treatment of municipal wastewater, Hunt has provided a land treatment alternative for municipalities in areas with low permeability soils. Hunt's research and new technologies for managing animal wastewater without lagoons has provided methods of manure management that have greatly reduced the potential environmental impact of confined livestock wastes.

"Hancor would like to congratulate Mr. Hunt as he has certainly demonstrated leadership in many facets of his career," says Frank C. Seymour, Vice President and General Manager of Hancor. "Hancor is proud to sponsor this award in conjunction with the ASABE because it is important to recognize individual contributions that lead to the advancement of soil and water engineering."
