HAINBUCH America to Unveil Revolutionary Workholding Solutions at IMTS 2008

(Milwaukee, WI...May 28, 2008) HAINBUCH America will unveil the new TOPlus hexagonal mineral cast chuck as well as feature several other recently-developed workholding technologies at IMTS08, in the West building (Tooling and Workholding Pavilion), hall F, at booth # 2973. In addition to the North American debut of the TOPlus, IMTS attendees can see HAINBUCH's new B-Top3 chuck, the HYDROK hydraulically-actuated stationary chuck, the MANDO T212 segmented mandrel, and the patented, automatic zero-positioning CENTREX Interface Centering System.

TOPlus Hexagonal Mineral Cast Chuck Debuts in North America
The new TOPlus mineral cast chuck will make its North American debut at IMTS08. Launched in the European market in late 2007, it was awarded the 2007 Innovation Prize from Initiative Mittelstand in the machine tool category, competing among 300 companies for the distinction. The TOPlus hexagonal chuck offers 25% more holding power, central lubrication, improved dampening characteristics and a clamping head that is fitted free of joints and solidly to the chuck surfaces. This revolutionary workholding design does not allow any radial displacement between the clamping head and chuck body, also resulting in an excellent seal against contamination.

B-Top3 Provides Ultimate Flexibility and Quick Changeover
Three in one: Combine the B-Top3 with SPANNTOP chucks and HAINBUCH's segmented mandrel all without taking the jaw chuck off the machine. With this chuck you will be able to tackle most applications while your competitors are still changing chucks. The B-Top3 will make machining effortless with quick changeover from outside diameter (O.D.) to inside diameter (I.D.) clamping, extreme rigidity, maximum spindle speed of 6000 rpm, exact centering via the CENTREX system, and concentricity of less than 5 microns.

HYDROK Hydraulically-Actuated Stationary Chuck in Hexagon and Round Variants Increase Holding Power
The HYDROK hydraulically-actuated stationary chuck is available in both a hexagon variant and a round variant. The round variant is presented with proven durability and offers significantly increased holding power over that of conventional 3-jaw chucks by means of the circumferential clamping and pull-back effect. The hexagon version increases holding forces by 25% compared to the round version. This unique design ensures the full-surface contact of the clamping element in the clamping device body and significantly improves runtimes, extended maintenance intervals and added tool life. What both variants have in common is they can be changed over within just a few minutes with the HAINBUCH adaptations from O.D. to I.D. clamping

MANDO T212 Segmented Mandrel Offers Solid Clamping Ranges with Pull-Back Effect
The MANDO T212 segmented mandrel works without a draw bolt and alleviates the pains of machining production challenges. The MANDO T212 offers a solid and minimum I.D. clamping range for blind bore of 8mm (.31496") and up to 100mm (3.937") with Hainbuch's pull-back effect. The T212 has long been in use for customer-specific solutions because of its versatility. It can be used in both rotating and stationary applications, and has an added clamping length due to the elimination of a projecting draw bolt. The utilization of the pull-back effect provides the powerful holding strength needed for maximum rigidity while also offering concentric precision of less than 10 microns. Manufactured with HAINBUCH's own vulcanization process, there is virtually no vibration.

The CENTREX Interface Centering System Speeds Setup
Cumbersome alignments of workholding tools are a thing of the past with the patented CENTREX Interface Centering System. The need for increased precision and rapid setup times has resulted in the development of the high-precision CENTREX Centering System, the compact patented solution and first automatic zero-positioning system already in use with various HAINBUCH workholding devices.

The CENTREX system uses precision steel ball bearings in a rubber ring in conical positioning elements and has also been integrated into a pallet system that guarantees an exact repeatability of less than 3 microns, as well as a perfectly level contact. At IMTS, HAINBUCH America will demonstrate how a plate fitted with CENTREX is mounted with exact repeatability, and that a dial indicator reading 1 micron shows no deviation. The four bushings and positioning cones are ready mounted, allowing the pallets to be fitted to each other with exact repeatability. Accordingly, applications are endless and exact, changeover times are drastically minimized offering an end result of enhanced machining and increased profitability.

HAINBUCH has been a global leader in the development of customized workholding solutions for more than 50 years.
