November 29, 2012 - Minnesota Job Skills Partnership awarded Itasca Community College and AdvancED a $260,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Grant is for the development and delivery of a Commitment to Quality training program for Minnesota Diversified Industries. In addition to award from MJSP, MDI is contributing $750,000 toward training program, along with monies also contributed by ICC. In total, Grant is worth over one million dollars.

Grant Awarded to Train 426 Minnesota Workers at MDI

“ICC values collaboration and this is another example of the outstanding work of our staff in supporting the mission of our partners and enhancing the workforce of Minnesota” noted Mike Johnson, ICC Provost. The training, coordinated by AdvancED’s ICC Campus staff, will ensure improved and appropriate continuity of quality in areas such as LEAN Processes, ISO9001, and Behavioral Based Safety Training. The program also consists of employee development skill training such as Accountability and Process Communication. The curriculum will be customized to the needs, standards, and procedures of MDI and will integrate both hands on and classroom training. Training will take place at all three of MDI’s locations: Grand Rapids, Hibbing and St. Paul.
