Goodrich Innovations on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner About to Become Part of a Milestone in Aviation History

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 17 /- (Paris Air Show) - As the history-making Boeing 787 Dreamliner prepares to be unveiled in Everett, Wash., Goodrich Corporation (NYSE:GR) is once again poised to play a role in the history of the industry.

According to Goodrich's Jack Carmola, Segment President, Actuation and Landing Systems, "Across the Goodrich enterprise we have a true sense of pride and accomplishment for the contributions we've made to the Dreamliner. We're truly fortunate to be part of the industry at such an exciting time. Our Aircraft Wheels and Brakes team in particular is awaiting the arrival of July 8, 2007 - 7/8/07 - with great anticipation as the unveiling of the Dreamliner will mark the first commercial application of our electric braking system. To date, the system has been chosen by many launch customers for the aircraft across the globe."

Goodrich has a broad range of technology, which will fly on the Dreamliner. Its cargo operating system uses innovative software-based, data bus controlled Power Drive Units (PDUs) that allow for less wiring, therefore reducing its size and weight.

Furthermore, the system has a joystick which is capable of performing over a million operations and the entire system software is designed to be reprogrammable without removing it from the aircraft.

In addition to the cargo system and electric braking, Goodrich supplies: the flight deck lighting system; cabin attendant seating; exterior lighting; nacelles and thrust reversers; air data sensors; icing conditions detectors; integrated heated composite floor panels; flight deck entry video surveillance systems; engine data concentrators; proximity sensing system; as well as the fuel quantity indicating system and fuel management software. In addition, Goodrich has been selected by Rolls-Royce to provide the engine control system and sensor suite for the Trent 1000 engine, an engine option for the 787. Furthermore, Goodrich supplies an integrated fuel system for the Hamilton Sundstrand APS 5000 APU.

As the Dreamliner enters service, Goodrich's global component support network and maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities are being equipped to provide the aftermarket services necessary to keep the aircraft in the skies.
