GlassHouse Technologies, Inc. Acquires Data Center Moves International

Acquisition enables GlassHouse to leverage unique software tool for managing data center migrations and defining 'green' strategies

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Oct. 9 -- GlassHouse Technologies, the leading independent IT infrastructure consulting and services firm, today announced it has acquired London-based data center services company, Data Center Moves International (DCMI). This acquisition expands the suite of data center services GlassHouse is able to offer its clients and provides them with a proprietary software tool that manages the entire migration process and helps identify strategies for creating a 'green' data center.

DCMI, founded by Martin Williams, created a proprietary framework to manage the entire data center migration process. Central to their seven phase process is a software tool which facilitates a production line methodology and supports the specific, often complex tasks involved in a data center migration. Working as a single point of information for the entire process, the software-based tool ties applications to physical devices, allowing clients to see which devices are using power and other resources, increasing visibility into the environment and accounting for costs. For data center managers tasked with 'green' initiatives, the data center migration and consolidation service helps determine ways to shrink the carbon footprint and expend less energy through consolidation of resources.

"DCMI has a unique service offering that fits neatly within our overall Transom approach to IT infrastructure," said Mark Shirman, president and CEO of GlassHouse Technologies. "Similar to our services for storage, backup and server virtualization, the data center services help transform IT infrastructure from technology-centric to service-centric environments. The results are then measurable and the transition is seamless. Clients gain a more efficient data center with lower energy costs and reduced maintenance fees."

The DCMI team will be integrated into GlassHouse's existing organization under the Data Center Services practice led by Bill Peldzus, director of data center services, business continuity and disaster recovery.

Steve O'Donnell, the global head of data centres and customer experience management for British Telecom, has worked with both GlassHouse and DCMI. "We see this acquisition as a benefit to BT," said O'Donnell. "GlassHouse will provide broader delivery support to DCMI's unique capabilities. We have great confidence in the high level of service and accountability they provide."

James Dunlop, major account sales executive at Unisys, a client and strategic partner of DCMI, commented, "DCMI's services have been key to our data center projects. Projects have been seamless and they provide measurable ROI. Now with GlassHouse's added capabilities, we can look to a trusted partner for additional services within our infrastructure environment."
