GibbsCAM Supports ISO 13399 and Integrates Adveon(TM) Tool Library

MOORPARK, CA – Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM® software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron (NASDAQ: CIMT) company, today announced that it has developed a partnership with Sandvik Coromant to integrate the Adveon™ Tool Library application. Adveon has been developed in compliance with ISO 13399, which defines cutting tool data representation and exchange. ISO 13399 allows the accurate exchange of tooling data among computer aided applications that support and adhere to the standard, including CAD, CAM, CAE, PDM, PLM and tool management systems. Gibbs and Associates will begin marketing Adveon integrated with GibbsCAM immediately, and begin shipping it with the GibbsCAM 2015 release. Adveon will initially support milling tools, and incorporate turning tools when the data becomes available. GibbsCAM users with current software maintenance will receive Adveon free of charge. Gibbs will demonstrate Adveon at IMTS 2014, September 8-13, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Booth E-3310.

Adveon for GibbsCAM allows users to develop their own tool library, selecting from tools they use daily. While having all tooling data at users' fingertips provides them a greater understanding of available tooling choices, having an overview of available tooling provides them flexibility in selecting and maintaining the assortment of tools in the library. The ISO 13399 cutting tool data representation and exchange standard lets GibbsCAM users work with tools from any supplier and assures accuracy of geometric information. Users can quickly and easily create tool assemblies, see immediate representations in 2D and 3D, and use them for simulation with GibbsCAM's integrated Cut Part Rendering and Machine Simulation.

The Adveon Tool Library provides three inter-related functions. First, a specially formatted library (based upon ISO 13319) allows customers to download or enter data for tooling items, including tool holders, adapters, cutting tools and inserts, to create a master catalog. A second function enables users to collect and categorize the various tooling items they use, while the third allows them to quickly and easily create tool assemblies from these components. Applications which support the standard, can then access the cutting tool assemblies without further searching or definition.

"We applaud Sandvik's leadership and initiative in implementing ISO 13399 with Adveon, and look forward to our partnership in delivering a great time-saving solution to manufacturers everywhere," said Robb Weinstein, Senior Vice President of Sales and Strategic Planning of Gibbs and Associates. "Adveon is a perfect fit with GibbsCAM, which has the inherent ability to associate specific tools with machining processes and the parts and part features the tools cut, to facilitate fast CNC programming and even faster engineering changes."
