Ghanbari Joins Ocean Optics in VP Operations Role
Dunedin, Florida (May 15, 2006) - Dr. Abe Ghanbari has joined Ocean Optics as Vice President of Operations. This is a newly created position for the company, a global leader in optical sensing, display optics, and biophotonics technologies.
As VP of Operations, Ghanbari will be responsible for managing the company's engineering and manufacturing processes, developing new systems, and guiding the strategic growth of the company. The company's products are developed and manufactured at its facilities in Orlando, Largo, and Dunedin, Florida.
Ghanbari brings 20 years of experience in the electronics industry to Ocean Optics. He has led research and development and engineering teams in new product development and overseen production operations at Applied Materials (Santa Clara, Calif.), Sony (Orangeburg, N.Y.), and Dielectric Systems Inc. (Fremont, Calif.). During this time, he has worked with scientific and meteorological instruments, flat panel technologies, semiconductor processing, and data storage equipment. Ghanbari earned a PhD in Plasma Physics from Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y.) and an MBA from Saint Mary's College (Moraga, Calif.).
