Get the Most Reliable Cartridge Heater Made Today

Press release date: June 3, 2014

The Watt-Flex® cartridge heater has a hot tip feature that is unparralled by conventional cartridge heaters. Because the coil passes across the tip of the heater, it can be left unstretched to produce a true hot tip or stretched to "de-rate" the tip of the heater. The hot tip is useful for very localized heat at the tip of the heater ... for applications such as probes for injection molding, heat branding or focusing heat at the lip of a sheet extrusion die.

However if the heater has a reasonably high watt density, it is necessary to have the tip touching the end of the bore so that heat can be pulled away from the tip. If this is not accomplished, excess heat will build up and the tip will have a higher predisposition to failure.

Accessories that are welded externally (headers, clip supports, etc.) act as an insertion stop, often preventing the heater from making full contact with the end of a closed bore. The length tolerance must also be taken into account, to ensure that the heater will make contact at the end of the bore. Rule of Thumb: when in doubt, go with a cool tip. It does not appreciably change the profile or performance of the body of the heater.

Dalton Electric Heating Co., Inc was founded in 1921 to manufacture industrial heaters.

Since 1989 we manufacture all our heaters in Ipswich Massachusetts

Today, Dalton's Watt-Flex Cartridge Heaters and Diff-Therm Platen heaters are used throughout the world in manufacturing industries including aerospace, automotive, plastics, composites, and many others.
