Gerhardt Wissler Joins Ametek Chemical Products as Senior Technical Manager

NESQUEHONING, PA - Gerhardt (Gerry) Wissler Ph.D. has joined AMETEK Chemical Products as Senior Technical Manager to lead production process improvement at its Westchester Plastics business unit. Westchester Plastics is a leading independent toll compounder of engineered compounds, alloys, blends, reactive modifiers and other thermoplastic materials.
“Gerry Wissler is an excellent addition to the AMETEK Chemical Products team. He brings to his new position extensive experience in polymer chemistry and has excellent experience as a plant manager, technical director and production chemist for several leading plastics and petrochemical producers,” comments Jim Visnic, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Chemical Products.
Mr. Wissler joins AMETEK from 21st Century Polymers, where he was a consultant in the development of proprietary polymers and specialty toll polymer compounds since 2000. Prior to that, he was plant manager and technical director for Chemtrusion, a Houston-based toll compounder.
He also worked for Exxon Chemical, where he managed toll compounding for appliance and automotive applications, served as a plant engineer at its Al-Jubail Petrochemical joint venture, and conducted polyethylene and polypropylene product development at its Polymer Characterization Laboratory.
Mr. Wissler has published articles on high-performance polymers, reactive processing of polymers, and compounding and formulation of polymers. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering Sciences from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University.
