Travis Nelson discusses running a specialty gas lab.

Dewitt, NY: As part of its continued commitment to highlighting the best and brightest young minds in the gases & welding industry, the April issue of GAWDA Edge features an article written by ILMO Products Company Specialty Gas Lab Manager Travis Nelson. The article is entitled "The Right Formula" and chronicles Nelson's journey in the gases and welding industry.

Nelson graduated from Montana State University - Bozeman in 2004 with a B.S. in Chemistry, and he's been in the gases and welding business ever since. He got his start with a company in Texas where he learned the ins and outs of the specialty gas business. Then, in 2007, ILMO made him an offer that he couldn't refuse, so he moved to Jacksonville, Illinois, and joined the company. "It wasn't an easy decision to pull up my roots in Texas and head north, but there were things about the company that really drew me in," explains Nelson. ILMO had a solid eye toward advancing its specialty gases program and was showing a willingness to make it happen. That kind of commitment to the science was very attractive to me."

Thus far, the move has proved to be a wise one. As the company's specialty gas lab manager, Nelson is working every day to grow his department. Want to know how he's doing it? The only way to find out this and everything else Nelson had to say is to head over to www.gawdaedge.org and check out the latest issue of GAWDA Edge, the online resource for young professionals in the gases and welding industry.
