Gases and Welding Magazine Talks Alloys

What light alloys mean for the future of the industry.

Dewitt, NY - As a part of its continued effort to provide professionals and executives in the gases and welding industry with the latest and most up-to-date product-specific technical information, the Third Quarter issue of Welding & Gases Today features an article from Grahame Savage called "Light Alloys." Savage, who is vice president of marketing and sales at Maxal, Inc., uses his article to explain how new requirements demand new materials.

In his article, savage states that If we have learned nothing else after surviving 2009, we should all understand the importance of keeping an eye on the future in order to assure survival and, more important, prosperity. Research and development efforts must remain at the top of our "to do lists" especially now, as we address the current business climate.

Savage then goes on to address how the challenges that will arise from the increased demand for better fuel efficiencies and environmental clean-up will include an increased need for better and lighter construction materials, in particular aluminum. We also will see increased demand for better joining methods that incorporate welding products and welding consumables.
