Future Facilities User Conference to Feature Keynote by Liebert VP Stack on Data Center Cooling Management

(February 15, 2010) -- Future Facilities has announced that Fred Stack, Vice President of Marketing for Liebert Precision Cooling, Emerson Network Power, will give the keynote speech at its upcoming 6SigmaDC User Conference and Training Event March 4 and 5, 2010 in New York City. Stack also holds the prestigious position of chairman of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Technical Committee 9.9 Mission Critical Facilities, Technology Spaces, & Electronic Equipment / Systems.

"My speech will explain how the changing data center environment is making the management of airflow a critical requirement in every cooling capacity strategy," Stack said. "I will show how computer simulation can be used to optimize the initial design of the data center and continue tuning the design to optimize performance as the data center evolves over time." Sherman Ikemoto, General Manager of Future Facilities added: "We are very excited to have Fred Stack as our keynote speaker to provide an overview of how ASHRAE TC9.9 and the industry as a whole are moving to address the coming power efficiency and reliability challenges that will be affecting us all."

6SigmaDC is a software package provided by Future Facilities that delivers a powerful toolset to meet the challenges of the design and operation phases of datacenters and IT equipment. The 6SigmaDC user conference event will be held in the Roosevelt Hotel in close proximity to and the day after the Data Center Dynamics (DCD) 2010 conference. The first day of the conference will also include a presentation by Chris Noland and Vipha Kanakakorn of Cisco Systems on how the company achieved an estimated saving of $120,000 per year in energy costs by simulating a data center using Future Facilities' Virtual Facility (VF) simulation methodology.

Brent Goren of Wrightline will also present a cold aisle containment study conducted at a Baycare Health Systems facility on the first day of the conference. Majid Safavi of Alcatel-Lucent will present a case study. The first day will conclude with a 6Sigma Product Roadmap session on the subject of what lies in store for Future Facilities and 6SigmaDC.

The second day of the conference will begin with an interactive energy efficiency tutorial explaining how to make data centers more efficient and determine in advance how much money can be saved. The second day will continue with a surveying, calibrating and troubleshooting tutorial.
