Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies Simrit’s Tillsonburg, Facility Earns Supplier Gold Four Years in a Row

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies’ Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada facility was recently awarded United Technologies Corporation’s (UTC) Supplier Gold status for its exceptional work in delivery, quality, lean practices and customer support. The plant is unique among UTC suppliers in receiving the award for the fourth consecutive year.

The Tillsonburg plant is one of two company operations handling Freudenberg-NOK Simrit’s aerospace business. It supplies aerodynamic seals to UTC’s Pratt and Whitney Canada (PWC).

Earlier in the year, Freudenberg-NOK’s Santa Ana, Calif., plant was honored for the first time with UTC Supplier Gold status. Freudenberg-NOK is the only sealing company to have multiple sites awarded.

“I am very grateful we have facilities like Tillsonburg that consistently excel in superior supplier practices,” said Vinay Nilkanth, vice president of global sales, aerospace, Freudenberg-NOK. “I thank UTC for recognizing Tillsonburg as one of the best and most efficient plants in the aerospace industry. There are over 55,000 PWC engines flying worldwide today and we are proud our seals can be found in every one.”

Supplier Gold status is the highest level of supplier achievement used by UTC and is awarded to businesses that meet these five criteria: excellent customer service, on-time product delivery, best-in-class quality, cost, and use of lean practices throughout operations. This award was established to help promote and facilitate exceptional supplier practices and performance of the more than 50,000 suppliers they do business with.

Freudenberg-NOK’s Nadcap-approved Tillsonburg facility has more than 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing aerodynamic seals and sealing products including engine seals, thrust reverser seals, and door and window seals, for commercial aircraft and jet engines. The facility is AS9100 Revision C quality management certified including design for the aerospace industry.

“In this industry, quality and experience are crucial to a successful and sustainable business,” said John Vettor, Lead Center manager, Tillsonburg. “UTC’s recognition these past four years has motivated our employees to push harder to achieve excellence and improve our manufacturing practices.  I am extremely proud of my team.”
