March 21 Webinar to Highlight Report on Safeguarding Protected Health Information

On March 21, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), The Santa Fe Group/Shared Assessments Program Healthcare Working Group, and the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) will host a free webinar on the forthcoming report, The Financial Impact of Breached Protected Health Information: A Business Case for Enhanced PHI Security, to be released March 5th at a press conference and Congressional briefing in Washington, DC.

Created through the "PHI Project" - a collaboration of ANSI, via its Identity Theft Prevention and Identity Management Standards Panel (IDSP), in partnership with Shared Assessments and ISA - the report guides health care organizations in assessing specific security risks and building a business case for enhanced PHI security.

All interested stakeholders are invited to register for the free webinar here.

The report includes PHIve (PHI Value Estimator) - a 5-step method to estimate the overall potential costs of a data breach to an organization. With this tool, health care organizations can determine an appropriate level of investment needed to strengthen privacy and security programs and reduce the probability of a breach.

Webinar participants will hear from industry experts who will provide an overview of the report and its significance to the U.S. health care industry:

James C. Pyles, Principal, Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville PC

Lynda Martel, Director, Privacy Compliance Communications, DriveSavers Data Recovery, Inc.
