Free Training DVD Demonstrates How to Use Purging Compounds

(MARCH 2007) - Although Dyna-Purge®, was introduced to the market 25 years ago, the dynamics of the global marketplace and escalating cost of resins have focused significant recent interest on the need for purging compounds in the plastics processing industry. Choosing a commercial purging compound depends on many factors, including the type of process, specific equipment used, and the process resin. Addressing these areas and other processing needs in a free training video, Purging Compounds & Techniques, is being offered in DVD format by the Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics, Inc., Buffalo, New York. The training video was co-produced with Paulson Training, Inc., Chester, Connecticut, a major supplier of training programs and materials to the plastics industry.

Dyna-Purge states that the new training DVD covers why it is important to purge as well as the differences between types of purging compounds. The video demonstrates purging procedures and applications for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. In addition, specific detail for different equipment (e.g. cold runner vs. hot runner), and the proper grades to use for a variety of resins (e.g. high temperature, soft-touch polymers) are presented.
