Former U.S. Secretary of Energy, Spencer Abraham Joins International Battery's Board of Directors

ALLENTOWN, Pa - April 18, 2011 - International Battery (www.internationalbattery.com), a U.S. manufacturer, designer, and developer of large-format lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and grid-scale systems, today announced the appointment of Former Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham to its Board of Directors.

"We're delighted to have Secretary Abraham join the Board. He brings invaluable perspective and deep experience, not to mention a genuine combination of enthusiasm and realism to the challenges of bringing new products into energy markets," said International Battery Chairman Mark Mills.

Spencer Abraham is the Chairman and CEO of The Abraham Group, an international strategic consulting firm based in Washington, DC. He served as the United States Secretary of Energy under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that appointment, Abraham served in the U.S. Senate (Michigan) for six years, where he chaired two subcommittees: Manufacturing and Competitiveness, and Immigration. He is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of AREVA, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of Occidental Petroleum. In addition, he is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution, and author of Lights Out, (St. Martins Press, 2010). He holds a law degree from Harvard University.

"It is particularly timely for Secretary Abraham to join International Battery's Board given the enormous emerging interest in storage for both smart grid, and solar power, and the maturation of International Battery's unique world-class systems and manufacturing technology," said Dr. Ake Almgren president and CEO of International Battery.

"I am very pleased to join this effort to help an American leader in new technology. The urgent need to upgrade the U.S. grid was one of the focal areas of my tenure at the Department of Energy and it's particularly satisfying to be part of a company pioneering the very technologies we envisioned then," said Secretary Abraham.

Secretary Abraham joins a distinguished Board of Directors, in addition to Mr. Mills and Dr. Almgren:

o Rodney Slater, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, and Director of the Federal Highway Administration

o Mark Ascolese, former V.P. of Eaton/Powerware, currently CEO of Power Analytics

o Peter Gross, VP of Hewlett-Packard, former CEO of EYP Mission Critical Facilities
