Fogel Named HR Honor Roll Award Recipient for 2010 by HR Executive® Magazine


Melville, NY, October 1, 2010 - Leviton's vice president of human resources and administration, Mark Fogel, was named one of HR Executive Magazine's three Honor Roll award recipients for 2010. The award was presented to Fogel at an awards dinner held on September 29th at the University Club of Chicago. The award is part of the HR Executive magazine's yearly recognition of top executives who have made outstanding contributions to their organizations and who exemplify the increasingly strategic role of HR in today's business environment. Since its inception, the HR Executive of the Year award has been presented to 22 prior recipients, while 71 prior individuals have been named to the HR Honor Roll.

"It's an incredible honor to be standing here this evening in front of such an impressive talent base of the nation's top-ranking HR executives," Fogel said. Judges for the 2010 competition included Dennis Donovan, senior advisor for Cerberus Capital Management and the 2003 HR Executive of the Year winner; Fred Foulkes, director of the Human Resource Policy Institute and professor of management policy at the Boston University School of Management; Dr. Jac Fitz-enz, president of the Human Capital Source; Mirian Graddick-Weir, executive vice president of human resources for Merck & Co. and winner of the 2001 HR Executive of the Year award; and David Shadovitz, editor-in-chief of Human Resource Executive..

Judges based their selections on the award recipients on the candidate's ability to handle significant problems or obstacles in the human resource field, the candidate's success in establishing the human resource function as an integral part of their organization and their management skills as demonstrated with the HR function and their contribution to the professional as a whole.

HR Executive also name Laszlo Bock, vice president of people operations for Google, its 2010 HR Executive of the Year and Julie Wood, chief people officer for Crowe Horwath; and Steve Fussell, senior vice president of human resources for Abbott as its two other HR Honor Roll award winners.

As vice president of human resources and administration for Leviton, Fogel has direct oversight of Leviton's global workforce. He supports a community of over 7,000 employees throughout North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and additionally leads Public Relations, Safety Affairs and Facilities Management operations. Over the course of his 10-year career with Leviton, he has successfully reshaped Leviton's HR function to be more strategic and globally focused as the company expands into new markets overseas and fosters closer ties with its global partners

Fogel has also served as the project leader on a 1 ½ year-long initiative to relocate the company's worldwide headquarters to Melville, New York. The project included the renovation of a 5-story 140,000 square-foot corporate complex completed in June 2009. The facility has since gone on to become the first on Long Island to achieve the USGBC's (United States Green Building Council's) LEED Commercial Interior Certification. Fogel has also played an instrumental role in launching a low-cost, highly effective leadership development program for Leviton.
