Foaming in Wastewater Neutralization System

Q. We have foaming in our wastewater neutralization system. Is low-foaming AlcoJet cleaner a suitable alternative to Alconox? Is it compatible to Alconox?

A. Alcojet is a low foaming version of Alconox. The two detergents are not chemically identical of course, but functionally each functional ingredient in Alconox has a comparably functioning ingredient in Alcojet.

Alcojet contains a somewhat less efficient emulsifier than Alconox. In general that which makes stable bi-layer foam structures also makes good micelles for emulsifying., so high foaming Alconox is better at emulsifying oils. To some extent to compensate for this, Alcojet contains more free alkalinity and a higher pH.

Alcojet also contains an active chlorine compound that acts as an oxidizing agent. For general purpose cleaning, you can often successfully replace Alconox with Alcojet where low foaming cleaning is required. You should test for your situation to make sure the Alcojet will work for you. There is certainly a very good chance that it will.
