FMA Awards Program Honors Industry Successes

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Clark Metal Products, a metal fabricator based in Blairsville, Pa., has received The FABRICATOR's Industry Award 2011, presented by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA). The FMA award is bestowed upon an individual or company within the metal forming and fabricating industry that has successfully improved operations, attained business success, and contributed to both the local and industry communities.

The FABRICATOR's Industry Award 2011 will be presented to Clark Metal Products in a ceremony during The FABRICATOR's Leadership Summit, which begins March 2 at Disney's BoardWalk Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

"This award is designed to recognize those individual leaders and companies that display innovation and determination to succeed," said Gerald Shankel, president and CEO of FMA. "Manufacturing is the backbone of America, and we're proud to honor Clark Metal Products as an industry success story."

Clark Metal Products didn't waste 2010 waiting for the economy to pick up. It went to work installing a new enterprise resource planning system, reorganizing its engineering and purchasing departments, and focusing more closely on planning and materials management. As of September 2010, the company had successfully reduced work-in-process, cut raw material costs, and increased inventory accuracy. In addition, the company has seen productivity indicators rise and cycle times shortened. For 2010, revenues are up 7 percent over 2009, and operating income is up 150 percent through Sept. 30.

As the winner, one company representative and one guest receive complimentary registration, travel, and hotel accommodations to The FABRICATOR's Leadership Summit.

Clark Metal Products also will be featured on the cover and in a cover story in the February 2011 issue of The FABRICATOR, North America's leading magazine for the metal forming and fabricating industry.

"Clark Metal Products is an organization of smart, innovative, and committed people who are focused on being a successful company," said Edward Youdell, group publisher of FMA Communications Inc. "They don't just talk about competing in a global economy; they are winning business on a global scale. They are a company that is clearly on the move, and every metal fabricating shop as well as every manufacturer can learn from their story."
