Federal Signal Acquires Riverchase

Forms municipal and government systems business to speed deployment of comprehensive public safety and security system solutions

OAK BROOK, Ill., July 25 / -- Federal Signal Corporation, a leader in advancing security and well-being, announced today that it has acquired the business and assets of Birmingham, Alabama-based Riverchase Technologies, LLC. Riverchase is a privately held developer of public safety software that equips first responders to better serve and protect their citizens.

The Riverchase public safety software suite provides municipal leaders with computer-aided dispatch, records management, mobile command center and integrated digital video capabilities. This acquisition expands Federal Signal's comprehensive portfolio of municipal security solutions.

"We are delighted to welcome Riverchase to Federal Signal's robust portfolio of security and well-being solutions. Riverchase's innovative suite of software solutions will plug into and enhance Federal Signal's interoperable industry platform to enable public safety, security and well-being throughout communities," said Robert D. Welding, president and CEO of Federal Signal Corporation. "Federal Signal can now provide first responders with intelligent real-time information, so they can make more informed decisions as they carry out their mission-critical duties and responsibilities."

The Riverchase suite begins with in-bound emergency calls routed to the VelocityCAD System(TM), which enables 911 dispatchers to properly route the right municipal assets and resources via the emergency vehicle-based Predator Mobile Data System(TM). The Predator system offers real-time access to local municipal and state databases, computer-aided dispatch, instant messaging, e-mail and chat. The Automatic Vehicle Location System(TM) offers fleet managers software tools to track and locate vehicles, with Global Satellite Positioning (GPS) technology and integrated street mapping. This system helps ensure that suitable municipal assets are deployed to emergency events at the proper time at the right location. The Stinger Wireless System(TM) empowers first responders on foot, horseback, bicycle or motorcycle with similar capabilities as the Predator Mobile Data System.

Riverchase will be immediately integrated into the Federal Signal Safety and Security group as part of the newly created Municipal and Government Systems business unit. This new business unit will leverage opportunities for total system-based sales to meet evolving first responder demands for interoperability and information. Gregory A. Sink, formerly vice president of strategic business development, will lead this new business unit, which will include Riverchase Technologies, the FS Codespear fail-safe communication systems business and the Federal Signal public safety broadband wireless systems business.
