February 2011 News Release

Carbon Resources Management Team has over 70 years of experience in the activated carbon industry. Our Sabre series® activated carbon products are the most diverse line of activated carbon products on the market. Additionally our Spartan Series® specialty activated carbon products are surface modified to be extremely effective in various applications. We also provide a line of Guardian Adsorber Series® which are off-the shelf as well as custom built activated carbon adsorption systems.

Robert Potwora to Give Presentation During WQA Aquatech in San Antonio

His presentation, "Removing MTBE from Water with Activated Carbon" will be March 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Aquastage 3. Selecting the right type of activated carbon is critical for effective MTBE removal and increasing the duration the activated carbon will last before replacement with new activated carbon is required. Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) has been used as a gasoline additive since 1979. Its use as a gasoline additive has mainly been replaced by ethanol. But MTBE still persists in groundwater because it is poorly broken down in the soil by natural biodegradation. Due to the physical and chemical characteristics of MTBE, it is not adsorbed well by standard activated carbons.

Carbon Resources Sabre C Series® granular activated carbon is particularly effective for MTBE removal from water. Its micropore structure is well suited for adsorption of MTBE from water.
