Falcon Steel Launches Material Management Program

Falcon Steel announces a new Material Management Program to give customers greater flexibility and shorter lead times between order and delivery. A leading producer of steel structures for power delivery systems, Texas-based Falcon Steel is the only manufacturer and fabricator of EHV lattice towers, steel poles and substation structures based in the United States.

Falcon Steel’s Material Management Program allows customers to plan and order in advance for steel structures to be fabricated within a given forecast. Fabricated structures are then stored onsite within designated secure inventory-management areas and managed by Falcon until the customer schedules delivery.

According to Jim Taylor, CEO of Falcon Steel, the program makes it possible to deliver products within 3 to 4 weeks of a request, far shorter than the industry’s typical 16 to 20 weeks.

“On-time delivery is an absolute priority for utilities because every minute matters when a community’s power delivery is at stake,” Taylor said. “If there’s a bottleneck in the supply chain and providers don’t get the structures they need on time, the consequences are severe for everyone.

“By having the right product ready to go at the right time, our Material Management Program gives utilities much more flexibility in their ability to forecast, order and replenish product inventory, Our customers not only gain more control during the delivery process itself, they can also improve profitability and reduce costs throughout the entire supply chain,” he added.
