ExteNet Systems' mNET® Service Platform Delivers on RAN Agnostic Strategy

mNET's Distributed and SDN-based LTE Evolved Packet Core service platform demonstrates successful interoperability with major RAN vendors

CHICAGO - ExteNet Systems, the leading independent provider of distributed networks, has expanded the portfolio of RAN (Radio Access Network) vendors qualified with its mNET LTE-based service platform. The qualification activities are key to delivering carriers a solution framework that enables both architecture and service flexibility. This innovative strategy has been validated through extensive lab testing, field trials and commercial deployments.

"Today, our mNET service architecture can incorporate 4G-LTE RAN equipment from a host of vendors including Airvana, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Networks and ZTE, in addition to Wi-Fi access points from Cisco and Ruckus Wireless," said Eric Abbott, Director of Technology, ExteNet Systems. "We continue to validate additional RAN and Wi-Fi vendors to build out the portfolio of supported components the carriers can use in their networks."

The distributed network architecture provides versatility and scalability to address the escalating need for many types of broadband wireless services and applications. The mNET platform's flexibility supports a number of deployment options and service applications including, but not limited to, standalone rural networks, private and virtual private wireless networks, network expansion and wireless roaming, integrated LTE and Wi-Fi networks and multicarrier small cell networks. Across these many use cases, the ability to operate with multiple RAN vendors clearly enhances the flexibility and service options for carriers of many types.

"mNET, ExteNet's software-defined network (SDN) based LTE Packet Core solution, provides a flexible, differentiated and highly economical service platform for the rural carriers today. The flexible architecture becomes the enabler for deploying true heterogeneous networks, or as we call it, 'networks-within-networks' – the innovative framework to define and launch localized service strategies across the carriers' communities," said Jason Osborne, Vice President Business Development, ExteNet Systems.
