Evana Automation Ships Off-Line Fluxing and Soldering Cell to Leading Automotive Electronics Manufacturer

The flexible solution permits rework of failed OCS sensor products, product design and production

Evansville, Indiana – Evana Automation Specialists, a leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently shipped an off-line fluxing and soldering cell to a leading automotive electronics manufacturer. The flexible new cell will permit rework of failed occupant classification system (OCS) sensor products, product design and production.

In this process, the operator manually loads the stations, transfers the product between stations, and unloads the finished product. The first station automatically applies solder flux to the FPC. Next, the unit is transferred to the solder station, where it is fused together. From there, the unit is placed into an inspection station.

"The former process was done on-line in an automated system, where there was a high level of product fall out," said Randy Wire, general manager of Evana Automation Specialists. "The new manual, off-line cell from Evana will significantly help with rework and product development initiatives."

Evana, a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI), utilizes diverse technologies to specialize in motion control, robotics integration, welding integration and system architecture by linking production equipment, material handling systems, data collection, networking, as well as computer software and hardware into flexible, unified technology.
