Version 18 of Solid Edge software is an industry-leading, value-based 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system that serves as a key component of the UGS Velocity Series.

Direct CAD to CAM exchange of part model via one solid modeling kernel
Both ESPRIT CAM and Solid Edge utilize the Parasolid® modeling kernel, thereby allowing the direct exchange of the part model and eliminating the need for data translation. Because all machining is performed directly on the solid model inside ESPRIT, users can inspect the on-screen "as machined" part against the original "as designed" version. By utilizing one kernel for both CAD and CAM, and by machining directly from the solid model, the Solid Edge / ESPRIT CAD/CAM solution assures maximum integrity of the final part.
Associative connection advantage
ESPRIT's associative connection to Solid Edge ensures that any changes in the Solid Edge part model are reflected inside ESPRIT and the resulting G-Code part program. Via the Engineering Change Manager, changes in the Solid Edge part model result in immediate updates to ESPRIT's tool path based on the new/modified geometry.
