New Company Name Reflects Global Orientation and Comprehensive Product Portfolio
ADELBERG, GERMANY - January 18, 2007 - Effective January 1st, 2007, ERNI Elektroapparate GmbH has changed its name to ERNI Electronics GmbH, thus affirming its global presence and product portfolio for the international market. Over 50 years ago, when company founder Ernst Rudolf Erni entered ERNI Elektroapparate GmbH into the commercial registry, the company began manufacturing electrical devices. Focusing initially on the development and manufacturing of relays, it was not until 1967 that the company entered the interconnect market with the development and manufacture of the first backplane connector - which today remains ERNI Electronics' core competency. ERNI Electronics is a profitable, mid-sized enterprise with a staff of 500 and a turnover of around 130 million Euros for the 2006 fiscal year.

Capitalizing on its flagship connector product line, ERNI Electronics is continuing to invest in system technology with the production of backplanes and subsystems. The new 2.7 million Euro product and administration facility will be approximately 3,000 m2 (32,000 square feet) in size, and underscores ERNI's commitment to this industry segment.
Product Portfolio
Following its success in DIN-compliant connectors, ERNI has continued to develop a broad portfolio of circuit-board connectors and input/output connectors featuring varying pin sizes and spacings (pitch). The circuit-board connector range includes hard metric connectors with a pitch of 2 mm (ERmet), as well as fine-pitch Mezzanine connectors with a pitch of 1.27 mm (SMC), 1 mm (MicroSpeed) and 0.8 mm (MicroStac). To accommodate the fastest data rates, ERNI offers high-speed connectors from the ERmet ZD and ERmet zeroXT families. On the I/O (input/output) side, ERNI produces a comprehensive spectrum of D-sub connectors, including cable housings and network connectors (RJ45). And for the automobile industry and others, ERNI manufactures super-reliable contacts, offering standard and customer-specific backplanes and subsystems, plus extremely robust M8 and M12 connectors. The latter are suitable for full automatic pick-and-place in automation and control technology. ERNI's latest development is the MiniBridge single-row cable connector system, which makes it possible to establish high-performance board-to-cable connections in the tightest of spaces.
Systems technology with standard and custom backplanes and subsystems is constantly growing in significance.
