EPMA elects new president during annual General Assembly.

On May 3, European Powder Metallurgy Association held 24th annual General Assembly in Munich, during which Philippe Gundermann was elected as President of Association. Retiring President, Ingo Cremer, provided review of last 6 yrs of service, while Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director, gave update on EPMA's activities over past 12 months. Also, EPMA Council was re-elected with inclusion of Dr. Rainer Link; Jody Turin, as representative for HIP sector; and Peter Kjeldsteen as Treasurer.

New European Powder Metallurgy Association President Elected



Some 30 member companies of European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) met at the EuroStars Hotel in Munich on 3rd May for its 24th annual General Assembly. As a result the EPMA is pleased to announce the election of Philippe Gundermann, (Aubert et Duval) as the new President of the Association.



The retiring President, Ingo Cremer, (Cremer Thermoprozessanlagen GmbH), provided a review of his last six years of Presidency, which looked at the economic turmoil in Europe and how the Association and Industry has successfully dealt with this crisis. Mr Gundermann said, "We would like to thank Ingo Cremer for his work on behalf of EPMA over his last two-terms as President, against some very difficult external conditions," before giving a presentation on his vision of the future direction of the EPMA.



Jonathan Wroe, EPMA Executive Director then gave an update of EPMA's activities over the past twelve months. This focussed on the association's wide range of sectoral group activities plus the success of the PM training courses and the Euro PM2012 Congress in Basel. He reported that the EPMA has a stable membership base and produced a better than anticipated, positive financial result in 2012. He stated, "We are looking forward to further growth in both the PM industry and the association, where we will be assisted by the newly launched European Additive Manufacturing Group (EAMG)."



The EPMA Council was re-elected with two changes Dr Rainer Link (GKN Sintermetals) replaces the retiring Volker Arnhold and Jody Turin (Bodycote AB) joins the Council as the new representative for the HIP sector, with Peter Kjeldsteen (Sintex A/S) being elected to take over as Treasurer.



Next year’s Annual Meeting will take place on 6th June 2014 the venue will be announced in due course.



Philippe started his career in metallurgy 20 years ago on the non-ferrous side, by joining the ERAMET Group, involved in cobalt powder production. As CEO of Eurotungstene, he developed his knowledge in hardmetals powder metallurgy, cobalt, copper, nickel, and rhenium powder, before being appointed CEO of ERASTEEL (2007) and AUBERT&DUVAL (2009), with a strong focus on powders: superalloys powders, high-speed steel powders, hipped parts.



Retiring President Ingo Cremer was elected in 2007 as the fourth President of the EPMA following Cesar Molins, Lothar Albano-Müller and Per Lindskog.



The EPMA was formed in Brussels in 1989; the European Powder Metallurgy Association has three key missions -

• Promoting PM Technology

• Representing the European PM Industry

• Developing the PM Future



The EPMA serve all types of member organisations, from component, metal powder, and equipment producers to end-users, research centres, universities, and individuals who have an interest in Powder Metallurgy.
