EPA Honors CleanAIR Systems with Clean Air Excellence Award for 2009

Patent-pending technology demonstrates excellence in innovation, commitment

Santa Fe, NM - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the 10th annual Clean Air Excellence Awards for 2009 honoring 14 organizations and one individual for reducing pollution, promoting environmental education and creating green products and jobs throughout the United States. CleanAIR Systems, the first emissions control manufacturer to develop a compact Tier 4 retrofit product for large diesel and natural gas engines, was selected as one of this year's award winners under the Clean Air Technology category for their patent-pending E-POD SCR product.

"Innovation and commitment are the keys to environmental progress, and our Clean Air Excellence Award winners are tremendous examples of these traits," said Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "These winners are leading the way toward cleaner air and a healthier environment."

Award-winning entries were required to directly or indirectly reduce air pollution, demonstrate innovation, provide a model for others to follow, and offer sustainable outcomes.

The CleanAIR E-POD is an all-in-one emissions control unit utilizing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) coupled with DOCs or DPFs. The product features internal mixing and proprietary closed-loop technology housed within a critical grade, stainless steel silencer shell. Using CleanAIR's non-toxic, iron zeolite-based SCR catalysts, the E-POD offers dramatic reductions of NOx, PM, HC and CO.

With its compact, efficient design, the CleanAIR E-POD is now being selected by many engine dealers and owners as the best option to meet stringent emission control regulations.

This year's award recipients were selected out of 124 applicants and represent achievements in the following categories: clean air technology, education/outreach, regulatory policy, innovation and transportation efficiency.
