The World Energy Engineering Congress-Sparking Economic Growth, Showcasing the Future of Energy Efficiency, Green Buildings

CHICAGO -- Even in a challenging economy, businesses are seeking new products and services to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs of their commercial, industrial, manufacturing and institutional buildings, according to officials with the 34th Annual World Energy Engineering Congress (http://www.energycongress.com), meeting at Chicago's Navy Pier October 12 - 14. The Congress, sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) showcases the companies, products and experts driving industry growth, while emphasizing the job opportunities for students and professionals in this burgeoning field.

More than 4,000 energy professionals are expected to attend the most important global event for all areas of the energy field. Workshops, presentations, case studies and panel discussions will be offered within 14 conference tracks such as: high-performance buildings, government energy management, renewable and alternative energy, energy policy & regulatory developments.

Over the past five years, improved regulations as well as growing knowledge about energy management has led to tremendous growth in the field. In fact, it's estimated that energy management services revenue will double to over $40 billion, according to the market research firm Frost & Sullivan.

"The bottom line of every business is greatly impacted by energy costs. Money spent on energy efficiency is a sound investment with an excellent return. AEE is at the forefront of helping businesses stay competitive in these tough economic times," said Albert Thumann, P.E., C.E.M., AEE's founder and executive director.

Free Expo Offers Technology Workshops; Showcases Innovation

In addition to the conference sessions, the exhibit hall will feature demonstrations and the latest technology advances from the nation's top corporations, real estate management companies and energy companies, each featuring ways they are making their operations more energy efficient.

New in 2011 are free technology workshops (http://www.aeeprograms.com/weec/workshops/weec11workshops.html) designed to enhance attendees' knowledge about new products and technologies.

Another feature within the Expo hall is the GreenStreet Expo Showcase. Co-presented by the U.S. EPA's ENERGY STAR®, the Showcase is open to the public free of charge and offers the best solutions for today's energy cost and supply challenges.

"Many sessions will profoundly influence how companies view energy consumption. We encourage people to visit the Expo to not only see new products, but to attend the large cross-section of free informational workshops as well," said Thumann, who indicated that the Expo is free to the public and showcases new products and technologies driving the "Green Building" revolution.

Keynote Speakers Address Environmental Policy

The WEEC will feature two of the most respected names in energy management and conservation:
