CHICAGO -- Even in a challenging economy, businesses are seeking new products and services to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs of their commercial, industrial, manufacturing and institutional buildings, according to officials with the 34th Annual World Energy Engineering Congress (http://www.energycongress.com), meeting at Chicago's Navy Pier October 12 - 14. The Congress, sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) showcases the companies, products and experts driving industry growth, while emphasizing the job opportunities for students and professionals in this burgeoning field.
More than 4,000 energy professionals are expected to attend the most important global event for all areas of the energy field. Workshops, presentations, case studies and panel discussions will be offered within 14 conference tracks such as: high-performance buildings, government energy management, renewable and alternative energy, energy policy & regulatory developments.
Over the past five years, improved regulations as well as growing knowledge about energy management has led to tremendous growth in the field. In fact, it's estimated that energy management services revenue will double to over $40 billion, according to the market research firm Frost & Sullivan.

-- A globally recognized advocate on water quality and policy, Alexandra Cousteau will open the conference and speak on the importance of conservation and sustainable management of water resources needed to preserve a healthy planet.
