Emerson Network Power Forms New Embedded Computing Business

Newly Acquired Artesyn Computing Products to Anchor New Business

GLOBALCOMM BOOTH # 10043

MADISON, WI. June 1, 2006 - Emerson Network Power (NYSE: EMR) today announced the formation of a new Embedded Computing business. The new business, anchored by newly acquired Artesyn Computing Products, will enable Emerson to offer more comprehensive, highly integrated platform solutions to telecom equipment manufacturers and network equipment providers looking to reduce development cost and time to market. Emerson will rebrand Artesyn Computing Products, referring to it as Emerson Network Power's Embedded Computing business.

The Embedded Computing business will build on Artesyn's pioneering work in the open architecture telecom platform industry. The new business will offer telecom components, blades, software, and systems to equipment makers in a broad range of telecom infrastructure applications, including network access, softswitches, signaling systems, and media gateways. These products, based on industry standards such as AdvancedTCA, AdvancedMC and MicroTCA, make it easier for Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) and Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) to outsource their platform design and focus precious engineering resources on value-added applications and services.

"Artesyn's impressive track record as a provider of open architecture telecom solutions with specific expertise in emerging standards such as AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA make them a valuable addition to Emerson Network Power," said Jay Geldmacher, president of Emerson Network Power's Astec Power business, known for its embedded AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, and the parent of the Embedded Computing business." The Embedded Computing business will build on Artesyn's system-level open architecture expertise, making Emerson even more attractive to leading NEPs who require a more complete solution ranging from embedded power supplies to climate controlled rooms."

"In today's highly competitive telecom infrastructure market, network equipment providers are outsourcing more and more of their platform design in order to contain cost, speed time to market, and focus on value-added applications and services. Emerson's broad product offering and open architecture approach makes it easier for NEPs to outsource their platform design and take advantage of low-cost, best-of-breed COTS technology," said Scott McCowan, president of Emerson Network Power's Embedded Computing business, and former president of Artesyn Computing Products.
