Emerson Network Power Announces Participation in Energy Efficiency Panels at Next Generation Data Center Conference

Columbus, Ohio [July 26, 2007] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), will play a significant role in two data center energy efficiency panels at the Next Generation Data Center(TM) (NGDC) conference, August 6-9 in San Francisco.

Peter Panfil, vice president of power engineering, Liebert AC Power, Emerson Network Power, will represent the organization during the "EPA Energy Efficiency Study Panel" session (August 8 at 3 p.m.), which will discuss the findings of the recent U.S. EPA study on data center energy efficiency. Panfil worked closely with the EPA during the development phase of its study, providing expertise on precision temperature control and advanced power technology. The panel will be moderated by James Hall, president of the Blade Systems Alliance and also strategic marketing manager, Liebert Power and Cooling, Emerson Network Power.

Fred Stack, vice president of marketing, Emerson Network Power, will represent the organization during the "Green Data Center Panel" session (August 7 at 4:30 pm), which will discuss new technologies and practices for conserving power in the data center.

The invitations to Emerson Network Power (booth #302) come on the heels of recent announcements that the organization is working with IBM, Sun and Dell on various energy efficiency initiatives. For example, the partnership with Dell is designed to help customers expand data center capacities while significantly driving down energy costs. The Dell-Liebert Energy Smart Solutions combine Dell's PowerEdge Energy Smart servers with Liebert XD and Liebert DS cooling systems to maximize data center performance, density and efficiency. The Dell-Liebert Energy Smart Solutions can deliver an 80 percent increase in performance and a 42 percent reduction in facility power, while maintaining high levels of business continuity and availability. The Dell-Liebert Energy Smart Solutions will be on display in the Dell booth (#620).

As part of its ongoing response to the surge in energy demand in data centers, Emerson Network Power is also a contributing member of The Green Grid, a non-profit consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The company is an active participant in The Green Grid's many technical committees and closely works with the organization to develop meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve energy efficient performance of global data centers.

Also at NGDC, Panfil will be delivering presentations on "Cooling the High-Density Fever," (August 8 at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and "Tailoring a High Availability Power System to Meet Your Needs" (August 9 at 10:15 a.m.). Emerson Network Power customer BayCare Health System will be speaking about how it worked closely with Emerson Network Power to develop a power and cooling infrastructure for its new data center that would position the organization for continued growth (August 8 at 10:15 a.m.).
