Eaton Pivot Irrigation Hose Receives Green Leaf Symbol for Sustainability

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its pivot irrigation hose has received the Eaton "Green Leaf" symbol for sustainability. The hose's Green Leaf label will assure farmers that the hose is environmentally friendly and safe for farm land irrigation systems, due to the fact that it is made entirely from 100% post-consumable PVC compound. Made by Eaton's Industrial Hose Solutions Unit in Guelph, Ontario, the hose promotes the efficient use of energy and more. Reuse of PVC translates into lower input energy costs, since the material has already been processed once; and lower processing temperatures are used, reducing processing energy costs. In 2009, Eaton used 1.4 million pounds of recycled PVC in the manufacture of pivot irrigation hose, thereby freeing up substantial landfill space and lowering waste transportation costs. The hose is distributed through Senninger Irrigation, Inc. of Clermont, Florida. Senninger manufactures sprinklers, spray nozzles and pressure regulators, which are installed on Eaton hose drops from center pivots. Pivot irrigation hose is the third Eaton hose style to receive the Green Leaf label. Also bearing the label are two Eaton fuel hoses, including GH100 ESP® hose and EPA/CARB-compliant EH089 ESP® hose. To ensure it provides exceptional environmental benefit, each Green Leaf candidate undergoes a rigorous approval process that includes a formal application, cross-business review and approval panel.
