EASTEC Resource Center Provides Manufacturers Pathways to Increase Business
Experts to provide ideas for innovation, opportunities for growth, strategic positioning and new collaborations
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass., - EASTEC 2010, the largest manufacturing event on the East Coast, will feature 27 Lean and Green Resource Center presentations for manufacturers. The free presentations, starting on May 25 and running through May 27, will give attendees the opportunity to learn about new ideas and processes to grow their business and gain a competitive advantage.
"EASTEC 2010 is not just about the latest manufacturing technology," suggests Kimberly Farrugia, EASTEC 2010 show manager. "We provide the experts and the forum for manufacturers to really rethink their business and change it to become more innovative and effective. Along with the Resource Center presentations, the event will feature daily keynote presentations on innovation, opportunities for growth, strategic positioning and new collaborations."
Jeff Morrissey, internal lean leader for the Willington Companies describes two presentations that experts from his company will be making. "The first is called "Cleaning Up Our Act! Reducing Toxic Waste," which is based on a successful Kaizen here at the Willington Companies. We noticed significant savings as well as a major reduction in hazardous chemicals. The second talk is called "Standard Work is as Easy as PB&J," based again on another successful Kaizen. This taught our employees how to document standard work and how to test the procedures. This is leading to our ISO road map for 2010."
Harry Moser, chairman emeritus of GF AgieCharmilles and representing the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) and the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) will present on "Re-Shoring - Reduce Your Total Outsourcing and Bring Jobs Back to the U.S."
Other Resource Center topics include "Value Engineering and 3P for Accelerated Product Development," "The Green Profit Center," "Lean Involvement and Idea Systems," and "Collaboration and Innovation in a Global Economy." Presentations will be made by experts from Precision Punch Corporation; Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership; Fuss & O'Neill Manufacturing Solutions LLC; Kaizen Sensei; IRC Enterprises; The Timken Company; ICR Enterprises; Zygo Corporation; Optimize LLC; Vibco, Inc.; Specialty Printing, LLC; Franklin Products, Inc.; United Illuminating Conservation and Load Management; the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection; and the Western Massachusetts Lean Network.
A new offering at EASTEC 2010 is the Innovations Theater, a venue for manufacturers to introduce new products and services rolled out since last year's event.
