Dur-A-Flex Appoints Peter V. Ferris President and Chief Operating Officer
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (JAN. 27, 2011) - Dur-A-Flex announced today that it appointed Peter V. Ferris, the former President of Charter Medical, Ltd., as President and Chief Operating Officer effective January 1, 2011.

Ferris comes to Dur-A-Flex with over 30 years of business experience. Since 2006, he served as President of Charter Medical, Ltd. in Winston-Salem, N.C., a business unit of Manchester, Conn-based Lydall, Inc. (NYSE-LDL). At Charter, he successfully built and led the team that returned the company to profitability, achieved ISO 13485 re-certification and completed a $3M capital expansion project focused on disposable solutions for the Biotech and Life Science markets.
Prior to joining Charter Medical, Ferris spent seven years with Princeton, N.J.-based Tyco International, Ltd. (NYSE-TYC) where he was Vice President of Strategic Marketing. While at Tyco, he held senior positions in Global Marketing at Tyco's Submarine Systems business as well as leadership positions in Marketing and Investor Relations at Tyco International's corporate office in New York City.
Prior to Tyco, Ferris spent nine years with the Dexter Corporation (NYSE-DEX), a specialty chemicals and materials company based in Windsor Locks, Conn. At Dexter, he started in the CEO's Management Development program, which led to a series of progressive management positions in Marketing and R&D at Dexter's Specialty Coatings and Food Packaging business in Waukegan, IL. His last position with Dexter was Vice President and General Manager of the Polymer Systems business where he oversaw operations in Manchester, UK; Singapore; and Seabrook, NH. Polymer Systems specialized in epoxy and methacrylate adhesives and functional polymer coatings serving global industrial markets.
Ferris is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH with a bachelor's of science degree in Finance and Economics. After graduation, Ferris founded and was President of a regional, perishable distribution company for nine years in Simsbury and Madison, Conn. He is married with four children and resides in Rye, NH.
